We recently completed a North Raleigh crawlspace encapsulation project on a 1970s era home. Overall, the space had stayed dry over the years but old construction materials, and dirt had built up. There were some minor mold issues that were identified upon our first inspection of the space. The homeowners put an addition on the home in 2020 and the new area was in good shape, although it was not sealed.
We cleaned out the entire crawlspace area, including removal of all the old insulation and an old vapor barrier that had not been installed correctly. We treated the area with Shockwave to remove the mold. We then proceeded to fully seal and encapsulate the crawlspace and installed a vent in the HVAC ductwork to condition the space. The old door to the crawlspace was replaced with a new fully insulated door as well. All of this will keep it mold free, improve the indoor air quality, and reduce the homeowner’s energy costs over the coming years!
