Although we often complete crawlspace encapsulation projects on older homes, doing it as part of the construction process is a great opportunity. In this project, we sealed the crawlspace in two stages. In stage one, we installed insulation board to all of the exterior foundation walls. We also installed a layer of six mm vapor barrier to prevent moisture during the building process.
During stage two, we installed R-19 fiberglass insulation around all of the exterior walls above the seal plate and in all the knee walls. We also put down white 10 mm vapor barrier on the crawlspace floor. We finished the project by wrapping all of the columns and insulated the crawlspace door.
